Does Witness Connect support legally aided work?
Yes. The platform is designed to support both privately funded and legally aided cases.
We recognise that legal aid remains a critical part of the justice system, and expert instruction within that context often comes with additional administrative and fee sensitivities.
Experts indicate within their profiles whether they accept privately funded instructions, legally aided work, or both. This allows solicitors to identify suitable experts at the search stage.
Our aim is to provide structure and transparency around instruction, regardless of funding route.
Can solicitors see where a case sits in the workflow?
Yes. Witness Connect provides visibility of where a case sits within the instruction process. Solicitors can see when an instruction is accepted, in progress, awaiting documents, or completed, helping them track progress without repeated follow ups.
Can solicitors book experts into available slots?
Yes. Where experts enable scheduling, solicitors can request interviews, assessments or meetings within available time slots. This reduces delays caused by email coordination and uncertainty around availability.
Do firms need to move all their cases onto Witness Connect?
No. Firms can use the platform alongside existing working practices. Many begin by using it to source experts and then expand usage over time.
What happens if a case needs to be reassigned to a different expert?
Solicitors remain free to instruct another expert at any stage. The platform retains a clear record of communications and documents to support continuity.
How much does it cost to use Witness Connect?
There is no subscription fee for legal teams to access Witness Connect.
Expert witnesses set their own rates, and all fees are clearly displayed before instruction so you can compare options and make informed decisions.
Witness Connect applies a platform fee to instructions processed through the platform, which is included within the quote you receive. There are no hidden charges, and you'll always see the full cost before proceeding.
